Adding Your First Product
What Is a Product?
A product in RealityMold represents a specific item, service, or offering that you want to create video content for. Products live under a client, forming a clear hierarchy: your account contains clients, and each client contains products.
Every video request is tied to a specific product. When you request a video, our team uses the product information you provide to craft scripts, direct talent, and produce content that accurately represents what you are selling.
The more detail you include when setting up a product, the better your video results will be. Take the time to fill out each field thoughtfully.
Adding a Product
Navigate to the client you want to add a product to. You can find your clients in the Clients section of the sidebar, or click directly from your dashboard.
On the client detail page, click Add Product.
Fill in the seven product fields described below. Required fields are marked with an asterisk.
Click Save Product when you are finished. The product will appear on the client page and become available for video requests immediately.
The Seven Product Fields
Title is the name of your product as you want it referenced in videos. Use the actual product name that customers would recognize. For example, "CloudBrew Pour Over Kit" is better than "Product A" or "coffee thing." This field is required.
Brand is the brand name associated with this product. In most cases this matches the client name, but some clients may have sub brands or product lines with distinct brand identities. This field is required.
Description tells our team what the product does, who it is for, and why someone should buy it. Write in plain language as if you were explaining the product to a friend. Include the core value proposition and any important details about how the product works. Aim for at least two to three sentences. This field is required.
Key Advantages are the main selling points of the product, listed as individual bullet points. Focus on benefits rather than features. Instead of "Made with 304 stainless steel," write "Built to last with premium stainless steel that will not rust or stain." Three to five key advantages work best for most products.
Actor Direction guides the talent who will present your product in the video. This is where you describe the type of person you envision promoting this product and how they should deliver the message. Include details like the desired age range, gender (if relevant), tone of voice, energy level, and overall vibe.
For example: "Female presenter, mid 20s to mid 30s, warm and conversational tone, moderate energy. Should feel like a friend sharing a genuine recommendation, not a scripted ad."
Our team casts talent based on these directions. Be as specific as you can while leaving room for creative interpretation. Do not reference specific actors or public figures.
Product Image is a photo of your product that helps our team understand its appearance, size, and packaging. Upload a clear, well lit photo showing the product from its best angle. A white or neutral background works best, but lifestyle images are also acceptable.
Supported formats are JPG and PNG. The image should be at least 800x800 pixels for clarity. You can upload one image per product.
Product Link is a URL to the product page on your website or online store. This gives our team additional context including pricing, reviews, and the full product listing. If your product is not yet listed online, you can leave this field empty and add it later.
Tips for Better Descriptions
Strong product descriptions lead to better video content. Here are guidelines for writing descriptions that give our team the context they need:
Be specific, not vague. "A lightweight, water resistant laptop backpack with a padded 15 inch sleeve and hidden anti theft pocket" gives much more to work with than "a nice backpack."
Include your target audience. Mention who this product is for. "Designed for remote workers and digital nomads who need organized, reliable gear for travel" helps our team tailor the message to the right viewer.
Highlight what makes it different. If your product stands apart from competitors for a specific reason, say so. "The only pour over coffee kit with a built in temperature gauge" is a clear differentiator.
Write naturally. Avoid marketing jargon and buzzwords. Our team will craft the final script, so your job is to provide honest, clear information about what the product is and why it matters.
How Actor Direction Works
Actor direction is one of the most important fields for video quality. Our team uses your direction to select talent and guide their performance.
Age range. Specify an approximate age range for the presenter. For example, "early 20s" or "40s to 50s." This helps our casting team match the right talent to your product and audience.
Tone and energy. Describe how the presenter should come across. "Calm and authoritative" produces a very different video than "upbeat and enthusiastic." Think about what tone resonates with your target customers.
Style and personality. If you want the video to feel like a candid product review, say so. If you prefer a polished, professional presentation, describe that instead. The more specific you are about the feel of the video, the closer the result will match your vision.
Keep in mind that actor direction guides the casting and performance. You are describing a type of presenter, not selecting from a roster. Our team handles talent selection based on the direction you provide.
Product Image Best Practices
A strong product image helps our team understand exactly what they are working with. Follow these guidelines:
Use a clear, focused shot. The product should be the focal point of the image. Avoid cluttered backgrounds that distract from the product itself.
Prefer a white or neutral background. This gives the clearest view of the product's design, color, and shape.
Show the product at its best. If it is a physical product, photograph it in its packaging or styled for display. If it is a digital product, use a clean screenshot or mockup.
Ensure adequate resolution. Images smaller than 800x800 pixels may appear blurry. Higher resolution images give our team more detail to work with.
One well chosen image is better than multiple low quality photos. Select the single image that best represents the product as customers would see it.
