Manual Top Up Packs

Credits and Billing3 min read

What a Manual Top Up Is

A manual top up is a one off purchase of tokens for a specific client. You pick a pack size, the charge goes through your card, and the tokens land on the client's balance immediately.

It is not a subscription change. The plan, the renewal date, and the monthly allocation all stay the same. You are buying extra tokens to cover a specific need.

Where to Buy

  1. Open the client from the dashboard or the Clients page.
  2. Open the client's settings page.
  3. Scroll to the Manual Reload section near the bottom of the page.
  4. Pick the pack size.
  5. Confirm the purchase.

A Stripe payment dialog appears for the charge. If your saved card works, the charge completes in seconds and the tokens appear on the balance.

What Tokens You Get

A few pack sizes are available. The wizard shows the exact token count and price for each. Pick the size that covers what you need with a little buffer.

Unlike plan tokens, top up tokens do not expire at cycle reset. If you buy a pack today and only use half of it before your next billing cycle, the unused half rolls forward into the next cycle.

The credit log entry on the client's credits page shows the top up as a separate transaction so you can trace exactly when it was bought.

When to Use a Top Up vs. Upgrade

Use a manual top up when:

  • You hit a one off spike (a campaign launch, a specific test) and the rest of the cycle should be normal.
  • You are still figuring out the right plan tier and do not want to commit to a higher monthly cost yet.
  • Auto Reload is off and you want hard control over each top up moment.

Upgrade the plan when:

  • You consistently hit zero before each cycle renews.
  • You are routinely buying multiple top up packs per cycle.
  • Your production cadence has shifted permanently to a higher volume.

Plans work out cheaper per token than top ups, and the per token rate improves as you move up tiers. If you produce a lot, upgrading pays for itself quickly.

For the upgrade flow, see Upgrading Your Plan.

Card and Payment

Top ups use the same card on file as the rest of the client's subscription. Stripe processes the charge directly; nothing about it goes through your monthly billing cycle.

If the saved card fails, Stripe Checkout opens in the same flow so you can enter a different card. The new card becomes the default for future charges across all clients.

What Lands on Your Account

After a successful top up:

  • Tokens appear on the client's balance immediately. You can submit the next creative without delay.
  • The credit log on the client's credits page shows the top up as a positive entry.
  • An invoice for the top up purchase appears in the per client Invoices section.
  • You receive a billing email confirmation, same as other charges.

Tips

Top up before you need it, not at the moment you need it. If you know you have a big campaign launch this week and your balance is low, buy the pack the day before. Saves you the Insufficient Tokens modal mid flow.

Watch the credit log. Top up tokens are visually identical to plan allocation tokens on the balance display. The credit log is the only place to confirm where each token came from.

Stack on top of Auto Reload. Auto Reload covers the "the balance was too low for a specific submission" case. Manual top ups cover the "I want a buffer for the next week of work" case. They complement each other; you can use both.
