Generating Persona Images
What a Generation Batch Is
When you set up a creative's persona, you do not get a single image. You get a batch of persona photos generated from the same inputs. Each batch produces multiple candidate photos so you can pick the one that fits best.
This matters because AI generation is not deterministic. The same persona inputs can produce a confident, on brand shot once and an awkward, off brand shot another time. A batch gives you options to choose from instead of forcing you to live with the first result.
How to Start a Batch
- Open the creative and open the persona drawer.
- Fill in the structured fields: gender, age range, personality, additional notes.
- Add style chips or a custom style if you want a specific aesthetic.
- Click the generate button.
The wizard runs the batch in the background. While the batch is running, the page shows a generation state with a progress indicator. You can navigate away from the page; the batch keeps running and the results land in the persona library when it finishes.
Standard vs. Premium
Some clients have access to both tiers:
- Standard. The default. Multiple persona photos per batch, generated quickly. Suitable for most brand work.
- Premium. A smaller batch (three photos), generated with a higher quality model. Triggered when you attach a reference image in the persona drawer so the AI has a real human anchor to start from.
Both tiers feed into the same persona library. The tier filter inside the library lets you separate them when browsing.
Re Rolls
If you generate a batch and only some of the photos are usable, you can re roll the bad ones individually. A re roll replaces a single photo without regenerating the whole batch.
Each re roll costs a small number of tokens (less than a full new generation, since you are only producing one replacement). The exact cost is shown on the re roll confirmation before you commit.
Re rolls use the same persona inputs that produced the original batch. To change the underlying direction, edit the persona drawer first, then start a fresh batch instead of re rolling.
What Happens to the Photos
Every photo a batch produces lands in the client's persona library automatically. You do not need to "save" them.
This means batches are cumulative across creatives. If you generate three batches for a client across three different creatives, the library now holds the union of those batches. The next time you start a creative for that client, you can pick from the library instead of generating fresh.
For browsing and filtering the library, see Working with the Persona Library.
Selecting From a Fresh Batch
After a batch completes, the wizard shows the persona photos in a grid. Click the one you want for this creative. The choice is reversible until you submit.
The tile you pick becomes the on screen presenter the AI uses when rendering the scenes. Picking a tile does not delete the others; they stay in the library for future reuse.
When to Generate Fresh vs. Reuse
A few rules of thumb:
Generate fresh when:
- The library has nothing close to what you want.
- You are exploring a new persona direction (different age, different gender, different vibe).
- The brand has shifted and the existing library does not fit the new tone.
Reuse from the library when:
- A previous creative for this client used a persona that worked well, and you want a similar feel.
- You are running variations on the same product and want persona consistency across the set.
- You are trying to limit token spend (reusing is free; generating costs tokens per batch).
Common Issues
The persona drifts from what I wrote. Persona inputs are a strong prior but not a guarantee. If the output consistently drifts in one direction, tighten the structured fields (gender, age range) first, then make personality and notes more specific.
The batch produced nothing usable. Generate a second batch with the same inputs. Output varies between runs. If two batches in a row produce nothing usable, the persona direction probably needs sharper inputs.
Generation seems stuck. A batch usually completes in under a minute. If the indicator does not move, refresh the page. The wizard recovers in flight generations and shows you what landed.
